Book Reviews

I am trying to write a review of a book for the first time in life.I am totally rookie in writing a review ,but hopefully as days run by ,i would improve my writing skills. Ok let me get back to the book review.
The other day i happened to read the book named "Three Mistakes of My Life" written by chetan bhagat,an author ,whose first book was a smashing hit (five point someone) in terms of sales.People then started commenting that chetan bhagat was arguably best among the writers of modern era.But did he live up to expectations ? Let us see ......
Having read his first book,i was absolutely curious and enthusiastic i.In fact i purchased a copy for myself rather than borrowing it from friends. But did he live up to my expectations???
With several hopes i started reading the book. The Novel speaks of a story of three Gujarati guys whose life was influenced by friendship, romance, cricket and religious politics in the city .
The author intelligently uses the most popular game ,cricket ,to draw the initial attention of the readers .(I would say youth). But then, rest of the book is similar to any other bollywood movie in the market, where part of it is defined for Romance , altercations among friends, a tragedy and then re-grouping.
I felt the author writes his novels more towards attracting the directors of film industry to use his story. It would be good to watch the movie rather than waste time in reading the book .
The positive side of the novel was the portrayal of friendship .The author uses different real time situations to bring out the three mistakes.Probably this aspect should attract readers. As usual romance plays an important role in every book off late.
Arguably this definitely is not better than the first book FIVE POINT SOMEONE,after the hype it received in the dailies. All in all, one will end up with an amalgamation of boredom, irritation and head ache after reading this book.I would suggest people to watch the movie rather than spend 100rs for the book.

haven't read the book. So I would take your word for it.
You might be correct about the author writing a bollywood script more than a story. But that makes me happy atleast in that this is making bollywood gurus less dependent on foreign inspirations or remakes. Atleast we have a complete creative circle. The writer has always been anonymous (in most cases missing) in the film industry. Happy to see someone make a space for himself.

Yes ,you have a valid point with originality. But sir, this has been turning out to be monotony off late. All that is happening is people are visualizing the characters on the screen for an already known story. One would appreciate to watch anything creative ,innovative something which people never heard off or seen on the screen. It would be better of to write a script and approach a director than write a book.It is just commercializing yourself.
